Promotional Video Production for Musicians and Artists

People decide whether to listen, book or buy in a few seconds. A strong promo video makes those seconds count. We make promotional videos for freelance musicians, solo artists, bands and creatives who want to look professional, reach more people and get booked.

Forshaw Media is an award-winning video production company based in Manchester city centre. We work with independent artists as well as established names, and we keep the process simple and affordable.

Promo videos we make for artists

Artist introduction and EPK videos. A short film that shows who you are, how you sound and what you offer, ready to send to promoters, venues, labels and festivals. This is the video that gets you booked.

Release teasers and announcement videos. Short, punchy clips that build excitement before a single, EP or album drops.

Gig, tour and festival promos. Bold, shareable videos that announce dates and fill rooms.

Crowdfunding and campaign videos. A personal pitch for your Kickstarter, Patreon or fundraiser, filmed so people believe in you.

Behind-the-scenes and studio content. Rehearsals, recording sessions and a look at your process, to keep fans engaged between releases.

Brand and merchandise promos. Videos for your merch, your artwork or your creative business, whether you’re a musician, a painter or a performer.

Social media promo packs. A batch of short vertical and square clips, with captions, cut from one shoot so you have a month of content from a single day.

Why promo videos matter for independent artists

Promoters, venues and playlist curators want to see you in action before they get in touch. Fans scroll quickly and only stop for content that looks and sounds good. A professional promo does both jobs: it shows people you’re serious, and it gives you material to post consistently across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and your own website.

A full music video is a big step for many artists. A promo video is a smaller, more flexible way to get high-quality footage now, and you can still make a music video later. If you’re ready for one, see music video production.

What you get

A polished promo video. Edited to your music, with grading, titles and your branding, in the formats you need.

Social cut-downs. Short clips for every platform, so one shoot gives you plenty to post.

Studio or location filming. Choose our Manchester city centre studio, with a clean backdrop or green screen, or a venue, rehearsal space or location that suits you.

Optional extras. Live session footage, drone shots, extra locations, photography for press shots and artwork, and a separate audio recording if you need a polished backing track.

How a promo shoot works

1. Chat and plan. Tell us who you are, what the video is for and where it will be seen. We’ll suggest the best approach for your goals and budget, and agree the plan, location and schedule.

2. Preparation. We organise the kit, crew and location. If you want help with ideas, outfits or set design, we’ll talk it through with you in advance.

3. Filming. Usually a half or full day, in our studio or on location. We keep things relaxed, so you can focus on your performance and come across naturally on camera.

4. Editing and delivery. We edit the footage to your music, share a draft for feedback and deliver final files in the formats you need, including social versions. We include 2 rounds of editing revisions as standard.

How much does a promo video cost?

We work with independent artists on tight budgets, so we scope each project to fit. A typical promo shoot is usually around £650. Price depends on the length of the shoot, how many cameras and crew you need and how much editing is involved. Tell us your budget when you get in touch and we’ll suggest what’s achievable.

How much does a promotional video for a musician cost?

A typical promo video is usually around £650. The easiest way to get an accurate figure is to tell us what you need, where you’re based and your budget.

A music video is a produced piece for a specific track. A promo video is built to promote you: an introduction to your music, a release teaser, a gig announcement or a pitch to promoters. Promo videos are usually shorter, quicker and cheaper to make, and many artists start with one.

An electronic press kit (EPK) is a short video that shows who you are and how you perform. Venues, promoters and labels often ask for one. It’s one of the most useful things a working musician can have.

Yes. We can film a live performance in our studio, a rehearsal space or a venue, with multiple cameras and clean audio. See live session filming.

No. Many artists arrive with just their music and a sense of their style. We’ll help shape the idea, or work from your references if you already have a look in mind.

We plan the shoot so you leave with a library of short clips & behind the scenes snippets as well as your main video, cut for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts.

Yes. We make promos for painters, performers, makers and other creatives too. The approach is the same: show people your work, and who you are, in a way that makes them want to get in touch.
